Legacy Sentry integrations removed from Codecov
What changed after Codecov removed legacy Sentry login and Sentry GitHub App integrations, who is affected, and how to restore access, PR comments, and status checks.
Codecov has removed two legacy Sentry-era integrations, and this page explains who was affected and what to do next.
What changed
1. “Log in with Sentry” was removed
The Log in with Sentry option has been removed from the Codecov login page.
If you previously used Sentry OAuth to access Codecov, log in with your Git provider instead:
- GitHub
- GitLab
- Bitbucket
This does not create a new Codecov account. It gives you access to the same Codecov account through your Git provider.
2. The legacy Sentry GitHub App integration was removed
Codecov no longer supports the legacy Sentry-branded GitHub App as a way to connect GitHub repositories to Codecov.
If your organization only had the Sentry GitHub App installed, Codecov can no longer post:
- Pull request comments
- Status checks
To continue receiving Codecov comments and checks, install the official Codecov GitHub App:
Install the Codecov GitHub App
Who is affected
You may be affected if either of the following is true:
- You used Log in with Sentry as your only Codecov login method.
- Your GitHub organization only had the legacy Sentry GitHub App installed, instead of the official Codecov GitHub App.
Organizations already using the official Codecov GitHub App are not affected by the GitHub App change.
How to check which GitHub App you were using
To identify which app posted your Codecov pull request comments, check the name shown on an existing PR comment.
- If the comment was posted by the Codecov GitHub App, you are already using the supported app.
- If the comment was posted by the Sentry GitHub App, your organization was using the legacy integration and needs to switch to the Codecov GitHub App.
What you need to do
If you can’t find the Sentry login option
Log in to Codecov using the Git provider connected to your Codecov account.
For example, if your repositories are hosted on GitHub, choose Log in with GitHub.
If PR comments or status checks stopped appearing
Check which GitHub App posted your existing Codecov PR comments.
If the comments were posted by the Sentry GitHub App, install the official Codecov GitHub App:
Install the Codecov GitHub App
After installation, Codecov can resume posting PR comments and status checks for your repositories.
Previous notice
Affected customers were notified starting one month ago through:
- An in-app banner
- Notices added to Codecov pull request comments
